As a college  student, I find it difficult to do the duties of being one  and of being a Christian at the same time. There were times that I wanted to give up my studies and just be busy on the church. But I know my parents would certainly kill me for that decision, so it never materialized. I also thought of having a vacation from going to church and just focus myself to studying and aim to graduate as soon as possible so that I will have all the time to be active in the church on the next years to come. But I realized it was a terrible idea. I will probably search for a job after graduation, which means next level of busyness. Besides, my flame for the Lord would burn out. If so, I will be a “Yes Man” then. “Dexter, inuman tayo! Sama ka? (Dexter, lets drink some wine! Wanna join us?)”. “Yes!”. “Dexter, punta tayo dyan sa massage parlor. May special service diyan! (Dexter, let’s go to that massage parlor. They do special services there!). I would certainly say “Sure!”. If I ever decided to give up my church life, I think I will be conquered by this world again.

Suddenly, I came to ask myself why did I ever think that doing my responsibilities as A Christian and as a student at the same time is hard, wherein fact my life would be easier if I do them together. The very duty of a Christian is to win souls and make disciples as stated in Matthew 28:19-20 (“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”). It is not about attending the church or doing ministries. But a Christian’s sole mission is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to people. And there in school is a good spot to fish. So I can still excel in being a Christian while in school. Well, how about my studies?  Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” If we seek God first, if we put Him at the top of our priorities, then all will just follow, even our careers. In my case, my studies.

Sadly, this realization came late. I only have shared the gospel to three people for my first four years in college. And now I’m on my fifth year. I feel that I wasted those years. If only did I become so bold about Jesus to my classmates! But I still praise God for He is still faithful to my studies. I am considered as an above-average student in ECE department.

I only have one year left in school, and I pray that may I use it well in making Jesus famous in my classmates’ lives. I pray for boldness, for good testimony and also for companions for my fishing. May all of us who are Christians there in the school work together in winning souls and making disciples.

“I don’t need your Jesus”.

A week later, she was found dead in
her apartment.

The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one
of his 1979 songs he sang:

“Don’t stop me, I’m going down all the

On the 19th of February 1980, Bon
Scott was found dead, he had been
choked by his own vomit .

Years passed, and I was on my second year on high school then. October 8, 2004- my biology teacher invited us (II-2 Benevolent) in their church. He said that there will be plus points on our second grading grade in his subject if we go to FPCP. And so my classmates were motivated to go because of what was promised. But I was not.

4:30 pm of the same day- my friend and I planned to play Battle Realms in the nearest computer shop. We passed the church, yeah the FPCP. We were about three steps away from it. But I told my friend to go to that church, so we moved backward and went inside.

From that day, changes occurred in my life.The youth pastor encouraged us to accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and savior. And so I did.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Since I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and savior, I’m now claiming the promise that is stated on the verse, that I will have eternal life, and that I’m already assured of going to heaven whenever my time in this world ends.

So now, I have conquered my greatest fear. It’s beacause I have a big GOD in my heart! So, You, yes, You dear reader. If you don’t want to go to hell, then just accept Jesus Christ as your Personal Lord and savior!! And you will receive the best gift ever–ETERNAL LIFE.

I’m now reading a book entitled What’s so amazing about Grace written by Philip Yancey. I find it hard to uncover the thoughts or the lessons this book want to imply in my life, for some of the words used by the author are quite difficult to understand. That is why Ate Baby, the owner of the book advised me to always have a dictionary at my side whenever I am about to read the book.

Contemplate, splintered, scrounge, those are some of the words that I never encountered until I read the chapter 2 of the book- Babette’s Feast. Well, being a lazy boy, I didn’t follow what Ate Baby have advised me to do. Our dictionary is so big! Arrgh. It will only annoy me. But to God be the glory! He has given me the wisdom I needed in order to know what the book wants to express! Wahaha.

I’m now in the chapter 3- A World without Grace. As usual, there are words that cause my nose to bleed, but as I said, God unfolded my eyes to see the hidden treasure… Chapter 3 implies that a church must be a place of grace, not a place of ungracefulness. Well, so much for that!

If I were you, you should read it yourself! You will learn so much about grace!

“Grace is Christianity’s best gift to the world, a spiritual nova in our midst exerting a force stronger than vengeance, stronger than racism, stronger than hate”. ( Philip Yancey, What’s So Amazing About Grace, page 30)

Lord, I already know that you don’t really want us to be some kind of  a remote-controlled-person, because if you do, you should have not given us brains for us to think and decide on our own. You should have made us like robots, no emotions, no inquisitions, and no minds! What you wanted is for us to be faithful in You, only in YOU! So Lord, even though I commit sins, either unaware or not, I’ll still trust You! I will still be faithful to You! But it is hard to converse with You when I’m in the act of sinning. It is hard to be STILL in Your presence when I know that I’m unclean. But to God be the glory! There is so-called Your AMAZING GRACE! By this , we are saved! So I am very grateful! thank you Lord!

You know Lord, words are not enough to praise and to worship You! Even the greatest modifier man has invented cannot describe the whole You! But Lord, This is just what I’m capable of in exalting Your name, writing. Writing is the only thing I can offer to You with regards to the computers! So Lord, I’m claiming that you will develop my skills in drawing characters. You will enhance this ability you have given me for i am using it for you!

Lord, as the ending of this entry, I would like to pronounce blessings for those who are reading this right away! May God bless you all the times!
